Hi and welcome to my page here at the Township website. It is such a privilege to be Clerk for Frankfort Township. The Township does so many helpful things for so many residents—from the PACE bus services to the food pantry to our senior activities to early voting. Now that I am retired from 30 years in corporate life, giving back to the community is so important to me and being clerk here at Frankfort Township is one of the ways I do that.
As Clerk I take minutes at all our Township Board meetings and post them. I post notices for regular meetings and special and annual meetings. There are plenty of clerk duties with regard to voting—at the local elections in April and at other elections. I am responsible for organizing early voting at the Township offices. Contact me about meetings or minutes at MargoMcDermed@gmail.com.
The most fun part of the Clerk job is organizing the Township records dating back to our founding in the 1860’s. Now that we have moved to our new building all the Township records need to be moved as well. There are records all over the old building where we used to work—in offices, storage rooms and the attic. The State Archives prepared a Record Retention Schedule for the Township and I will be reviewing all the records to see which we must save and which are no longer needed. Once all the records have been moved down out of the attic and storage rooms, I could use some volunteers to assist in reviewing all those records. Is the box really bills from 20 years ago that do not need to be saved or are they minutes from the earliest Town Board meetings in the 1860s?
Volunteer to help review records by sending me an email at MargoMcDermed@gmail.com.
