Highway Department

There are so many people who don’t know that we have a Frankfort Township Highway Department, I would like to take a minute to tell you a little bit about us.

We are located at 9434 W. LaPorte Road in Mokena, just east of U.S. Rt. 45. We are a relatively small staff with 65 miles of road in our jurisdiction, which consists of unincorporated areas and a large and ever-growing population to serve.
We are proud to note that we have a balanced budget, even in a shaky economy. We do not budget more than we need and we do not spend more than we budget. Equally important, we have consistently lowered the tax rate and/or levy.

We provide street, sidewalk, curb and bridge repairs, snow removal and winter road salting.

 

The Branch Pickup Program is a weekly Monday pickup that starts on the first Monday in May (date will vary from year to year) and ends on the last Monday in September.

 

The Leaf Pickup Program is a fall program that starts approximately October and ends with the first measurable snowfall. Leaf pickup does not resume again until the fall of the following year. There is NO spring/summer pickup of leaves. You, as the homeowner, will be responsible for leaf pickup.

Wood chips from our weekly branch pickups and tree removals are available to our residents free of charge. Please call our office for details if interested.

As your Highway Commissioner, I am not only an administrator, but also working alongside our street and maintenance crews. This allows me to see first-hand our needs and how well we are fulfilling them.
The condition of our property and equipment is important to me, it is a reflection of the community. Everybody here is concerned and conscientious about their job. As your elected official, I hope to utilize the resources of  Frankfort Township to best serve our constituents. My focus is always on providing the highest level of service and getting the job done.
